During Salone del Mobile 2017, COS and London-based Studio Swine introduces New Spring; an installation center around a focal sculpture, emitting mist-filled blossoms that burst and evaporate on contact with skin but that live on momentarily when met with textured fabrics, drawing on the Sakura festival of Japan.

COS x Studio Swine New Spring-Pamper.myCOS x Studio Swine New Spring-Pamper.myCOS has partnered with Studio Swine, an artistic collaboration between Japanese architect Azusa Murakami and British artist Alexander Groves for this year’s design week. The duo, who will create an immersive, multi-sensory experience, has chosen the name New Spring to reflect the optimism and renewal that comes with seasonality.

Studio Swine said of their inspiration, “we wanted to encapsulate a lifespan of emotions in an instant. To create an experience that was fleeting, but in its time evoked joy and vitality, if only to remain as a memory.”

COS x Studio Swine New Spring-Pamper.my“We have been inspired by the thoughtfulness of Studio Swine’s work for some time now and are so thrilled to see New Spring coming to life. I hope their idea for this year’s installation will capture the imagination of those who visit. It is a joy for us to invite such talented creatives to collaborate and ultimately for us to engage with the creative community we draw inspiration from so regularly at COS,” said Karin Gustafsson, Creative Director of COS.

The COS x Studio Swine installation will be open from 10.00 – 18.00 on the 4th – 9th April 2017 at Cinema Arti, Via Pietro Mascagni, 8, 20122 Milan.

Select previous works by Studio Swine will also be on view from the 3rd – 11th of April in the COS Brera and Corso Venezia stores including ‘Hair Highway’ (2014), a curious example of alternative resources and innovative craftsmanship, with various objects made from human hair; and pieces from Fordlandia (2016), a recent project by Studio Swine sought to revive Henry Ford’s lost utopia in the Amazon Rainforest.
