Making fitness resolutions is simple but keeping them is not easy. Many people want to be healthy and sweat more often, but they find it hard to stay committed to their fitness routine. It may sound a little bit vain but if it works, why not?

If you are an avid user of Instagram, this trick is quite effective. Only allow yourself to post photos on social media after working out. No workout = No pictures.

2. Listen to audiobooks or podcasts

A great trick is to download a book that you have been obsessing about and only listen to it when you are actually working out. Audiobooks are not just the greatest exercise motivators, they are also a great tool to distract yourself from tiredness.

3. Filter your social media following

Usually, people get motivated by seeing other people getting fitter. Hence most of the time it is the things you see that affect you. It is recommended to have a role model to follow and it can be anyone. For me personally, I look up to Kayla Itsiness. I follow her on Instagram because she always shares body transformation pictures and meaningful quotes, and that gets me inspired to achieve a better and healthier body.

4. Utilize your mobile phone

I downloaded Nike + and it is certainly one of the greatest apps that I have ever downloaded. The app works like a personal trainer, showing me how to get the most out of my workout. Besides every time after you complete your workout, you can choose to share your running routes and time through social media. It has encouraged me to run more.

5. Track your progress and achievements via pictures

Upload your “before picture” in your phone. We often don’t realise how far we have come. Hence, whenever you feel demotivated, look at your pictures, it will help you to stay focused and let you reflect on all that you have accomplished. I suggest taking a picture in the same location wearing the same outfit once a week.

6. Make it as a date out

Instead of having candlelight dinner or movie night out with your significant other, why not bring your date out and do something good for your health? Going out to the gym with my partner always keep me motivated and feel excited after work.

7. Wash your hair only on days you exercise

That being said, if you don’t hit the gym for a couple days, your hair will look and feel greasy. And people around you will start mocking and judging you.

Regardless of what your end goal is, whether it is losing extra weight, reducing waist size, it is important to know why you embark on the journey in the first place. Having these goals allows you to build  your willpower and keep you motivated to achieve your fitness goals.
