In order to let you understand why exercise is the most effective way, scientists at the University of Louisville injected two groups of mice with alcohol daily for 12 weeks. A group completed exercises every day, while another group stays inactive for the whole study. The group that exercise didn’t experience any mitochondrial damage while the inactive group of mice did.

They also found that weakened mitochondria can cause memory impairment and loss of brain cells. This also explains why we feel a little fuzzy after a night out.
