To lose weight, you need to eat less. But this can be easier said than done if you are always feeling hungry all the time. Ongoing hunger causes concentration difficulty, and when hunger strikes you will reach out and eat just about anything. So what can you do to deal with the hunger whilst still eating less and losing weight?

1. Drink more water. Keeping a bottle of water around for when you’re feeling hunger pangs. You’re probably just confuse hunger with dehydration. Drinking a glass of water before a meal may help you to eat lesser as it reduce your appetite and prevent yourself from over eating.

2. Eat lean protein at each meal. To minimize calories intake, opt for low-fat dairy products such as beans, fish and lean cuts of meat. Because your body cannot store protein, eating it throughout the day is the surest way to balance your blood sugar level, suppress hunger and support your metabolism.

3. Stay active. Certain types of exercise can ward off  your hunger after you work out. As quoted in Shape, lower-intensity exercise can reduce hunger for a couple hours following exercise. The only catch is that the appetite-quelling effects of exercise seem to be the most strongest in people who are inactive. Therefore  the fitter you are, the less you will experience the hunger-suppressing effect of exercise.

4. Don’t skip breakfast. Your body may crave crappier food if you skip breakfast, resulting in consuming more calories and making it harder to lose weight. Getting your metabolism moving earlier will help keep you filled longer.

5. Proper snacking. Snacking can be part of a healthful eating plan with weight loss if you snack the right food.  A healthy, high protein, low GI snack between meals can help satisfy your perceived hunger and keep you feeling full, and this means you are less likely to reach for unhealthy snacks or overeat at your next meal due to ravenous hunger.
