We recently had the opportunity to chat (via email) with the co-founder of Nudestix, Taylor Frankel, to find out a little more about the brand, and to get some insights on the biggest makeup trends to look out for this year.
If you’re not familiar with Nudestix, it’s a Canadian-born make-up brand that is vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Founded in 2014, Nudestix was developed by chemical engineer who’s also a former M.A.C product developer and co-founder of Cover FX, Jenny Frankel, along with her two daughters Ally and Taylor.
The brand is well-known for its on-the-go makeup products that create nude and natural-looks. As the brand’s tagline says #GoNudeButBetter, Nudestix promotes minimalist beauty approach and believe that makeup should be easy, fast and–above all–fun!
1Where did the name Nudestix come from?
NUDE means:
- We’re stripping away the layers;
- We’re embracing NUDE shades for all skin tones;
- We’re embracing LESS makeup to enhance our natural beauty;
- We’re embracing NO chemicals, preservatives, animal bi-products, to deliver clean beauty products without compromising quality;
- We’re embracing LESS waste through sustainable packaging.

- MULTI-TASKING makeup.
2Where did you get the inspiration from for your brand?
Our vision was to create a brand that celebrated easy, effortless beauty for the real woman on-the go. Simultaneously, empowering today’s generation of women — to feel the most confident by looking like the best version of themselves.
3Based on your professional experience, what would be the biggest makeup trends for 2020?
I believe the biggest makeup trends for 2020 are going to be a throwback to the 90’s — monochrome makeup, mattes, warm corals, browns and mauves.
4What makeup products will be trending in 2020?
Skin is in. Any products that enhance the skin! Whether it be complexion products (foundation, concealer), all the way to blush, bronzer and highlighters.
5What new products will be released by Nudestix next year?
Think monochrome makeup and sunkissed skin!
6What do you love most about makeup?
I love how makeup makes me feel like the most confident version of myself.
7What three makeup items should no woman leave home without?
A multi-tasking blush, mascara, highlighter.
8What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?
Take care of your skin first! When your skin looks good, your makeup looks that much better!
