For Dior’s Autumn-Winter 2017-2018 Ready-to-Wear collection, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, created a natural, luminous look on the models.
“I wanted to give concrete expression to Maria-Grazia Chiuri’s vision for this collection, which was that of a contemporary young woman, who is emphatically free and beautiful.”
He adds, “Makeup shouldn’t be a ‘distraction,’ instead, it should emphasize the personality of each girl, with make-up that reveals without masking, and lights up each face with a perfect, natural Glow.”
Here are the makeup deets from the creator himself.
Complexion
Complexions were translucent and light. As Peter Philips explains,
“This natural Glow effect has to be blended in several steps, but without making it too heavy. And so to begin with I applied Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer as a base, then Diorskin Forever Perfect Cushion foundation, followed by a few drops of Flash Luminizer, and Fix It for touching up. Last of all, I accentuated the areas that catch the light (brow bone, nose and cheekbones) with a hint of subtly iridescent Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer.
Eyes
“Eyes were pure and almost bare, except for a touch of the new Diorshow Pump’n’Volume black mascara applied at the roots of the lashes for a rock’n’roll effect without being too heavy.
He added, “For this very natural make-up look, eyebrows had to structure the face and were perfectly shaped with “DiorShow Brow Styler.”
Lips
“Lips were naturally accentuated thanks to Dior Addict Lip Sugar Scrub, which smoothes and prepares them. Then I applied Dior Addict Lip Glow color reviver balm, choosing the one best suited to each girl’s complexion from among the four shades (Pink, Lilac, Berry, and Coral). This created a sensual and natural effect, with lip colour is just heightened.”
Nails
Nails were discreet with Abricot Base Coat, Diorlisse Abricot, and Gel Coat.
Hair
Styled by Guido Palau, hair was also natural and was left down, flowing over the shoulders.
