Dark circles. The panda effect. The walking dead. Apocalypse now. Zombies. You get me…

When do dark circles ever look good? Well, I guess only if you’re attempting to achieve the looks above. It’s a struggle so many of us deal with, some days are better, some days are worse. They never entirely go away – and when they seem to be gone forever, you aren’t sure what you did or how that happened.

It’s a mystery and I’ll like to think that water will help alleviate it. But if you find yourself struggling with it and need some basic ideas to cover them up, we’re here to share them with you.

Apply concealer and use the right consistency

Makeup artists usually use cream based concealers to cover up dark circles, and there’s usually a reason for this. It’s a heavier based product, and more dense so it’s not going to dry up and cause creases, neither will it melt away. Choose the right shade for you and make sure you apply it in the inverted triangle area below your eye (not just on the dark circles) for best effect.

Double up your foundation as a concealer

I do this because a) it’s a lot easier than having to switch between products and b) the coverage is amazing and it lasts all day! I do add on concealer for those days that I need added help, but otherwise, foundation works just as well. Use a liquid based foundation for best effect and make sure you prime your eye area.

Use a yellow toned concealer

Dark circles have blue and purple hues, to cancel this out use concealer that has yellow undertones to it and it should be slightly lighter than our skin tone.

Aside from quick make-up tips to battle those racoon eyes, also make sure you’re getting the right healthy and balanced diet. It’s easy to forget when we’re so caught up in our busy lives and also have makeup to help us through our rough days.

Get a lot of leafy greens, eat the recommended dose of fruits, drink enough water, and get enough sleep!
