There are a couple of things that are detrimental for those of us with curly hair, and heat is one of them. Again with the heat wave that has many of us sweating and hoping for more rain or overcast clouds, our natural curls may suffer and you’ll see us with drier ends and more frizz! Urgh.

I can’t even begin to count the many times I’ve considered straightening my hair so I could rid myself of this one other styling worry in my daily routine. BUT, not all hope is lost. There are styling hacks that you can incorporate into your daily routine to ensure you reduce the frizz and dry ends.

10 Styling Hacks for Curly Hair

1. Never use a hair brush. Use a wide-tooth comb or your own fingers to detangle your hair. A brush only causes breakage and more frizz, whilst causing you to lose the shape of your natural curls.

2. Deeply nourish hair before you shower. You can do this with coconut oil, or a deep conditioning mask. Apply it to your hair and wrap your head in a hot towel before you shower. The steam will help the product seep into your hair follicles.

9. Apply deep conditioner to your hair before you work out. While you work out, the heat and higher body temperature will help lock moisture into your hair. 10. Sleep on satin or silk pillowcases. This causes less friction to your curls while you sleep, and helps retain the shape. I also sleep with my hair in a high bun to help retain the shape of my curls.
